Since April of 2009, St. John has been blessed to have Shami as part of our ministry staff. Shami is part of a larger network of trained Comfort Dogs located throughout Northern Illinois and the surrounding region that are used to build bridges into local communities. Shami and her handlers interact with people at churches, schools, nursing homes, hospitals, public events, and in disaster response situations. This loving creature is a friend who brings a calming influence and offers unconditional love, allowing people to open their hearts and receive help for whatever is affecting them. Keep your eyes open because you never know where Shami might turn up around town, around Chicago or around the Midwest region. Be sure to visit the K9 Korner frequently for the latest updates on where Shami has been, who she has met and where she will be in the coming months. You can also find Shami updates on her Facebook page that can be found by clicking the button above or by searching Facebook for “Shami Comfort Dog”. Shami’s page will have pictures, videos and updates on what she’s doing (written by Shami of course!).
