We are so glad you have taken the time to visit our virtual community. We invite you to take a few minutes and search around, find out who we are, what we believe, and how we, as a community, seek to live out those beliefs in our everyday lives. While the web is a great way to get a flavor for our community, or even listen to a sermon, it can’t beat the face-to-face experience of gathering together with Gods people. So we invite you come and experience St. John for yourself.

Service Times

Please join us for one of our weekend worship services:

Saturday 5:00 PM Praise and Worship (Contemporary Songs)

Click here to view the full worship schedule.

Feel free to come as you are. God is not nearly as concerned about your clothes as He is about your heart. At St. John you will see the full range of worship attire from very casual, to more formal. We simply encourage people to dress in a way that is comfortable for them, allowing them to focus on the worship experience. What is important is that you are there!

(While we encourage families with children to worship together, we recognize the challenges that sometimes presents. Should you desire, a nursery with close circuited TV is available during the worship service and is staffed on an “as needed basis.” An usher or elder will be happy to assist you with your needs.)

What to Expect

to be greeted and treated as one who is loved by God. All are welcome. We believe Jesus Christ died for all people, regardless of past history or present struggles. You are precious in God’s sight so you are precious in ours.

to be invited for fellowship and Bible study. We gather for coffee and refreshments after the Sunday service. Sunday School for ages pre-K – 8th grade runs from 10:15 to 11:30 AM. Adult Bible study is offered from 10:30 – 11:30 AM. Growing and maturing in God’s Word is vital to our lives as individuals and as a community.

to be challenged. Jesus never promised His disciples that following Him would be easy. Being a Christian in the 21st century isn’t easy either. Through solid Biblical preaching and teaching you will be challenged to be more than a casual consumer, but to truly apply and live out your Christian values 24/7.

to be transformed. The ultimate goal of God’s Word is to transform you. All of us are somewhere in this process. God’s Word acts upon you like a chisel, chipping away at the stuff meant to harm you until you have been shaped and molded into the image of Christ. Expect it. Embrace it. Love it.

Get Connected

Our desire is to make St. John a place where you can get connected: connected with Christ, connected with others, and connected with the larger community. There are a number of ways and opportunities outside of our weekly worship services in which you can get connected:

Life With God

Life With God is an information/new members class designed to introduce people to the fundamentals of what we “believe, teach and confess.” As a congregation of the Lutheran Church – Missouri Synod (LC-MS) we are what is known as a “confessional church-body” meaning we teach a body of doctrine common to all LC-MS churches. Here you will learn the basic doctrine of the Lutheran church as derived from Scripture and expressed in the Lutheran Confessions. Classes run for 12 weeks and are offered on Wednesday evening’s beginning in September and on Sunday morning’s beginning in January.

Small Groups

St. John maintains a vibrant network of Christ Care small groups as well as other groups meeting for study, fellowship, and accountability. See if one of our small groups is right for you.

Serve in a mission/ministry

St. John regularly engages in service opportunities to our community. Each month we offer support to our homeless community through the DuPage County PADS (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) program. We also regularly send volunteers to the Feed My Starving Children food packing facility in Aurora. Membership at St. John is NOT required to participate in any of these or other events, just a heart to serve our community with the compassion of Jesus Christ.
