Outreach

“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.” -James 1:27

At St. John we believe that as Christ’s redeemed people we become His hands and feet in the world.  Our mission is to “Share God’s Love” with those around us.  Each person has been uniquely gifted by the Holy Spirit and is encouraged to use those gifts in service to God’s kingdom on earth.  If you are unsure of your gifts we would love to help you through the discovery process and direct you in ways to serve.

As a congregation we have invested ourselves in a number of local ministries, offering our faith community opportunities to join together to make an impact on lives locally and abroad.  Each month, 20-30 people are invited to volunteer with Feed My Starving Children packing food to be distributed around the world to combat childhood hunger.  On the 4th Thursday of each month, St. John volunteers supply food and shelter for our homeless population through the DuPage County P.A.D.S. (Public Action to Deliver Shelter) program.  If you are interested in participating in either of these outreach ministries please contact the church office at 630-969-7987 or info@sjlcdarien.org.
