Education

At St. John we believe one of the key characteristics of a disciple of Jesus Christ is that of a being a life-long learner.  For that reason we take a holistic approach to Christian education.

Beginning with our youngest members, St. John provides age appropriate educational opportunities for all age groups.  Elementary aged students, K-5, will find our Kids Konnect Sunday School program both fun and engaging.  Our team of puppets introduces the weekly bible story then dismisses students to their classes to further discuss the meaning and application of God’s Word.

Junior high students, grades 6-8, enter the next phase of their faith journey though a 3-year program of Confirmation.  Our unit based program takes the students through 13 separate studies incorporating the 6 chief parts of Luther’s Small Catechism but expanding to include other key teachings of the Lutheran church.  Parents are strongly encouraged to attend classes with their student to make this a family learning opportunity.

Following Confirmation, students move into the Senior High Youth Forum.  Here more topical studies are undertaken to prepare our students for the challenges and realities they will face in college and beyond.  Times of fellowship and relationship building are also key aspects of what Youth Forum seeks to achieve.

Adult bible study takes place following the Sunday morning worship service in the Fellowship Hall located on the lower level.  Topics range from books of the Bible, to DVD series, to current events.  No level of biblical knowledge is required and everyone is invited and encouraged to participate in discussion to their degree of comfort.
